ENGAGE BULLET POINTS @ 11:02 pm

Current Mood: accomplished

  • Our car has been causing no ends of the drama lately. Stopping, jerking around, needing multiple jumpstarts, and then stopping dead flat with less than 30 minutes till my next appointment. There is a rainbow at the end of the storm though, some much-needed repairs are being carried out under warranty. And in this case, it's a brand new gearbox. Normally this would cost $4k. Dayum. We managed to overcome most of the things we needed a car for, but we'll be better at it this week. Forewarned is forearmed, and all that. And thank god for the in-laws and their loan of a car for the weekend work that I will discuss in bullet point number 3. OMG FORESHADOWING!!
  • Because of this my posts have started to fall to the wayside on Deadzone. Sorry to everyone who is waiting for me to post--skip me if you can. But today was full-on, and I needed all of the night to get my paperwork and stuff sorted. I will be posting by this time tomorrow night. Can someone link to this post in chat so they know what's going on with me?
  • Hey, remember this guy?? well I bumped into him this week, whilst we were both working. He seemed to have forgiven the last few things that've happened between us, or has a flawed/skewed memory of the matter, or has just decided to forgive and forget. He's in a customer-service-ish role, so I guess some of his more colourful words have been suppressed. It was damn weird.
  • Thanks to car woes, my work performance has not been great this week. I was lucky to make up for it by working a 6th day this week, where I caught up with (and exceeded) my weekly quota. I have a pretty good crew with my current job. After working in Tauranga, we went to Mt Maunganui for a while. They are intelligent and thoughtful, and I always enjoy discussions with them. There are some very good jokers, we always crack each other up.
  • Speaking about cracking other people up, I got a pleasant ego-boost from [info]beckyh2112 with her recent (and very in-jokey) post quoting some of the stuff I've bantered at various times. Thanks, Becca.
  • At 7:28pm today, in the dark, whilst I was driving back home on the other side of Cambridge, I saw a shooting star for the first time today. It was beautiful. I wish someone was with me to share it with.
  • 'Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life' must be played at my funeral. Must. And sung along to by the attendees. And I am serious about this. Don't make me haunt you.

    Ha ha. @ 11:39 pm

Just got word that, since he left my old workplace in late April, Bevan got another job and has since been asked to leave.

    Why am I not surprised.

    Work update @ 03:27 pm

Today I called into my old job. I had some paperwork to finish off, so I dropped that off and talked with Sharon. I asked her how Bevan was. She tells me he wasn't working there anymore. I asked her why. She says she's not at liberty to say.

For those of you who have been following his exploits, what do you think the chances are that this was an amicable departure?

I just realized I haven't said anything about school since I started last week. I'd better do something about that.

    Current Location: work
    Current Mood: rattled

Oh my GOD, Bevan. Did you actually just say that you spoke to your lawyer because I wanted to confirm something with you about work policy and Health and Safety? God, fuck off.

I'm at work, detailed rant later.

Oh my god. @ 06:58 am

    Current Mood: sleepy
Current Music: soundtrack from my Gamecube

Remember that incredibly crude guy at my that always swears at work? Well he's at it again, so much so that I've decided to commemorate his asshattedness with a LJ tag all his very own.

Earlier this week he was so bad that I decided I'd had enough and lodged a formal complaint with the bosses.

As always, more foul language than you can shake a *$#@ing @#$@ )

I'm interested as to how this is going to be resolved, I'm far from being the first person that he's had trouble with, and usually 'resolved' equals screaming matches, as I understand. But it's gotta be done. Wish me luck.

    March 3rd, 2006

    Work updated. @ 11:35 pm

What a day. And I only worked three and a half hours. Not because I was sick or anything. My fridays are always half a day, I've got a kid to look after in the afternoons, since she doesn't go to daycare.

Well, first of all, remember how I said things were improving? I didn't know how quickly that would be. I sold a huge machine today. Putting into perspective, the largest sale I made previously at this place was $1,899.00 New Zealand. Today, I confirmed a sale for $5,499.00. Awesome.

    Secondly... well.

Work rant - Cut for swearing. If you don't like the language here... imagine working with this guy. )

Later on in the day, I got called regarding some negative feedback from head office's service head. One of the chain stores that sells the same brand of waterblasters called up and complained about the service I was offering them. Supposedly the issues were that I was giving customers who had their machines in to be repaired the 'third degree treatment'. Uh, no. What I was doing was asking the correct questions to ensure they were using the water blaster properly so that I can determine whether it was a warranty claim or not. If I don't ask the questions, we don't get paid for the work by the supplier. So if you don't like the questions, pay for the damn thing yourself. That being said, there were some other issues that were brought up. While I'm not exactly to be blamed, I do regret that there was a misunderstanding, and I would like to apologize to this guy and attempt to smooth things over. Unfortunately, I can't do that without effectively telling him that this service manager called me up and discussed his issues, which mister service manager doesn't want me to do. Ugh. So all I can do is hope that we can keep him happy in the future.

So yeah, there's a fair amount of bullshit to deal with. Thankfully, most of it is overshadowed by this awesome sale. It happened a lot sooner than I could have hoped, and it's given me a lot more confidence. I only hope that we continue to do this well. Who knows? We might even take a profit in my third month of being there. That would sure be nice.
