I seem to have been doing a lot more cooking and baking lately.
Due to circumstances, Lyz was unable to bake the Peanut Butter and Navy Bean (yes, I know,) cookies for
te_hazazel's party, so I had to do them. Despite the hurried effort in getting them over before they'd cooled properly, the results were certainly positive. All-round positive feedback is always good, but to specifically be told by Hazel herself (who is more or less
the authority on food things in our circles) that they're great is amazing.
I'm not typically the person who cooks dinner here, and when I do it tends to be nice, but uninspired. Pasta and bolognaise from a packet, stuff like that. But over last weekend, I cooked four meals. Two of which were completely new for me - a butter chicken and a cowboy casserole of beans and mince with cheese on top that somehow qualifies for publication in the healthy food guide. Both of which were a hit. The other two meals were ones I'd done before, but experimented with new ingredients, rather than following the recipe to the letter.
Later on this week I'm going to be trying lasagne for the first time too. It's an old favourite of mine and I'm looking forward to it.
Anyone got any suggestions on some new recipes for me to try out?
